Each year we bring you a mix of the artists that passed away during the year. This comprehensive playlist crosses virtually every genre with artists from around the world. Sadly, this year's list includes Joe Cocker, Pete Seeger, Jimmy Ruffin, Bobby Womack, Jack Bruce, Johnny Winter, Jimmy Scott, Horace Silver, John Holt, Robin Williams and many more.
Raise a farewell toast to these great and talented people.

We love a good cover song. Today we present a list of some of our favorite obscure cover versions of popular songs. We're sure that you'll find a few new discoveries (and new favorites) among this eclectic list. The mix ranges from indie hipster to classic soul. Whatever your passion, we've got you covered!
The 2015 inductees have been announced...and once more there have been some glaring omissions from the folks at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. If we had a vote, we would certainly include Neil Sedaka, Warren Zevon (for both his performing and his songwriting), Chicago, The Doobie Brothers and Joe Cocker.
Let the debate continue!
Sometimes we're just in the mood for an obscure playlist. We think we've come up with a first-of-its-kind list for your listening pleasure. This is a mix of songs that feature the lovely sounds of the drum brush. We've captured a diverse collection of brushing (from jazz to rock to electronica) to showcase drummers that brush with greatness.
Stand out tracks include "Red Right Hand" from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, "Hold On" from John Lennon and "Cedar Lane" from First Aid Kit.
This month's mix features the usual collection of new and classic songs from a variety of genres. We can't stop listening to "When I Get My Hands on You" from The New Basement Tapes (featuring Marcus Mumford's vocals and Elvis Costello on keyboard with a new twist to a Bob Dylan song) or the soulful "Motion Animal" from crash.
On the "sunny" side of things, Sunny Levine gives us the etheral "Runnin Through My Dreams" while Sunny War gives us the mournfully acoustic track "Boom Boom." Tony Allen's "Boat Journey" brings us back to the vintage African soul sound from the 1970's and Willie West & The High Society Brothers sounds like a cross between the band Chicago and Curtis Mayfield (in a very good way!). Another new song with a vintage feel is "Plastic" from Moses Sumney. Great stuff. We are also excited about new songs from several up and coming acts such at Cathedrals ("Unbound"), Hollywood Principle ("Find Me Out") and Nahko and Medicine for the People ("Wash it Away"). This is the stuff keeping our turntables busy this December. We aren't ones to blow our own horn (okay...maybe we are sometimes), but we do get really excited when some of our early music discoveries start to get attention on the global scene. Well today Spotify released its predictions for the breakout stars of 2015. All we can say is "what took you so long?" Half of the acts picked by Spotify to make it big in 2015 have already been featured on our past playlists. Here are some of the acts that we were among the first to rave about:
Mikky Ekko Back in March, we featured Mikky Ekko on our Sounds Like Winter playlist. We've been letting people know about Mikky Ekko since 2011. Seinabo Sey We featured Seinabo Say and her great song "Hard Time" in our June 2014 edition of The Tasty Turntable playlist. George Ezra and James Bay These two artists were featured in our July 2014 edition of The Tasty Turntable playlist. Raury and Ryn Weaver Raury and Ryn Weaver were a part of our August 2014 edition of The Tasty Turntable. MisterWives and AURORA Back in October, MisterWives and AURORA were center stage on the October 2014 edition of The Tasty Turntable. MisterWives were also featured in March on our Retail Radio playlist. Kim Cesarion We were playing Kim Cesarion's music for our friends back in April of this 2014. This has happened to us before. Back in 2011, we included Bastille in Volume 5 of our Unsigned Finds series and Gotye in Volume 8 of that series. In early 2012 we featured acts such as Rhye and The Neighborhood (with the soon-to-be-hit song Sweater Weather) in Volume 14, and MS MR in Volume 16. KONGOS was featured in Volume 18 in 2013. Other acts that we touted in our Unsigned Finds series before they broke out to wider audiences have included Lord Huron who were featured in both Unsigned Finds Volume 2 and Volume 4 in 2011; Never Shout Never, The Maine and The Summer Set who were all featured in Volume 3; Michael Kiwanuka included in Volume 4; Fanfarlo in Unsigned Finds Volume 5 also in 2011; Alpine in Volume 7; Polica and How to Dress Well in Volume 8; Meikio in Volume 13; Electric Guest and Selah Sue in Volume 14; and Gregory Alan Isakov in Volume 15; Back in January of 2013, we featured such acts as Panama, MKTO, French Montana, Joey Bada$$, Maya Jane Coles and Haim on our The Door to Cool playlist. But don't just take our word for it. Our friends at Playlists.net have said that "Unsigned Finds, is the best place to discover new and unsigned artists on Spotify." So, if you want to hear new music first, head on over to The Tasty Turntable (toot toot)!
What is the funkiest song of all time? (Our vote is for Sly & The Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Again"). The Tasty Turntable wanted to get your thoughts so we pulled together all the funk you need into one playlist. This is our essential funk collection. Let us know if you think we missed something.
In the words of Ike and Tina Turner: This one's "funkier than a mosquita's tweeter!"
All we want for Christmas is a little blues, a little jazz, a little soul, a little rock... It is all here in this eclectic holiday mix that is keeping our turntables busy this December and we'll keep adding songs right up to Christmas Day. Happy Holidays from Playlist Giants and The Tasty Turntable
There's something about the sound of the bongo. We think everything is better with bongos. More exotic, more wild, more fun. Here's a collection of great songs featuring bongos (and congas too). Now off to your nearest park and join in that drum circle!
Our featured artist this week is Brian Hazard who makes music under the name Color Theory. We love the cosmic synthpop feel of the songs and the subtle vocals and harmonies.
