Music has no rules. Slow, fast, new, old, anything goes as long as it is good. Here's a mix of what has been keeping our turntable happy during the shortest month of the year.
We kick things off with "No Action" from Kitty, Daisy & Lewis (a great song from a band currently on tour). Next up are the Diaz sisters, twins who go by the name Ibeyi. Their new release "Oya" is getting a lot of buzz. For a change of pace, listen to something new from someone not-so-new: Pops Staples. His track "Somebody was Watching" comes from the newly released and very great album "Don't Lose This." Good stuff all around this month.

Our latest installment in the “Instant Expert” series of playlists is "Alternative Rock." Relive the glory days of grunge and post grunge with this fantastic collection of songs. We've done the research so that you can impress even the most knowledgeable Alternative Rock fans with this deep dive into the genre.
Talk the talk to sound like an expert: "Alt-Rock started in the late 1970's and early 1980's with underground bands such as The Sex Pistols and The Ramones leading the way." "Before there were hipsters there were alt-rockers."" "A flannel shirt and boots was the wardrobe of choice for many of the grunge acts." And now you're an expert!
We love discovering new bands and artists and sharing their music with our friends and followers. Here's a mix of great music from artists that we think are about to break out big time. (Our rather unscientific eligibility criteria for this list is that band has to have fewer than 5,000 current followers on Spotify...and, of course, the music must be great.).
This month's favourites include great songs from FMLYBND, Curtis Harding, crash, Adna and more!
Yet another in our “Instant Expert” series of playlists with '80s Dance.
We've combed through our crates to bring you a selection of songs that will allow you to impress even the most knowledgeable '80s dance music devotees with this mix of great songs. Talk the talk to sound like an expert: "Did you know that The Cure's Robert Smith was once a member of Siouxie and the Banshees?" "Eddie Van Halen plays the guitar solo in Michael Jackson's "Beat It."" "Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" was the biggest single in the UK of the '80s." And now you're an expert! |
